Scott Shannon, MD, Director

Scott Shannon, MD, ABIHM, has been instrumental in the creation of a holistic and integrative perspective in psychiatry for well over a decade. He has served as the course director for the biennial Colorado Integrative Medicine Conferences since 2009.  

In 2010, he founded the country’s largest and most comprehensive integrative mental health clinic, Wholeness Center in Fort Collins. He is the author of  “A Guide for Professionals, Mental Health for the Whole Child” and “Please Do Not Label My Child.” He is also an editor of the “Handbook of Complementary and Alternative Therapies in Mental Health”.

Dr. Shannon served as the President of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine from 2011-2013. He currently serves as a board member for the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, AIHM. Dr. Shannon is  also an assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado-Children’s Hospital in Denver.  He spends much of his time teaching health care professionals around the world. Dr. Shannon co-founded AlterMed Research Foundation in 2006, advancing evidence-based integrative medicine education and research.
