Interpretation of Genomics in Mental Health (by Bridget Briggs, MD)

Minor genetic alterations such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) can alter our biochemistry and our mental health. This workshop will help the mental health practitioner understand the assessment of genetic variations and their relevance to clinical practice. Dr. Briggs will explore common SNPs and explore the implications for mental health. She will use case studies to help practitioners understand how these issues relate to common mental health symptoms.

Participants will:

  1. Comprehend the value of genetic testing for mental health
  2. Recall two significant pathways that alter mental health related biochemistry.
  3. Recognize two clinical patterns in mental health that may arise from a genetic alteration.
