Cannabidiol (CBD) in Mental Health (by Scott Shannon, MD)

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most important components found in cannabis or hemp.  CBD on neuroimaging displays functional characteristics almost exactly opposite to that of THC, the cannabinoid responsible for the high. CBD decreases anxiety, paranoia, thought disorder and agitation. Dr. Shannon will outline the exploding research on CBD as it relates to mental health. He will also share data from a large case series at Wholeness Center in Fort Collins.

Objective: Participants will:

  1. Recall the pervasive nature of the endocannabinoid system in biology.
  2. Elaborate the emerging nature of research on this arena
  3. Be able to describe the potential clinical applications of CBD in mental health
