The First Colorado Integrative Medicine Conference

Fort Collins, Colorado - June 25, 2009: AlterMed Research Foundation is pleased to announce the first Colorado Integrative Medicine Conference: Focus on Mind – Body Medicine, to be held during July 17-19, 2009 at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado.  This conference is sponsored by the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine to grant Continuing Medical Education credits. Keynote Speaker James S. Gordon MD, along with 11 honored guest speakers will be presenting the science and clinical applications of mind-body therapies to address stress management, trauma healing, and self-care to augment the traditional pharmaceutically-driven healthcare approach. Workshops, free exhibits, and entertainment will also be provided.

James S. Gordon MD, is the Founder and Director of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine and was the Chairman of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy from 2000-2002.

The 2009 Colorado Integrative Medicine Conference targets integrative medicine and mental healthcare professionals, and the general public. Integrative medicine topics include: Finding Balance in Healthcare, Guided Imagery, Biofeedback Therapy, The Healer Within, and Practical Heart-Based Coherence Building Tools for Improving Patient Outcomes. Mental health topics include: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Qi Gong in Mental Healthcare, The Role of Spirituality and Religion, and the Clinical Application of Meditation for Mental Health.
